Reaching Teenage Audiences: Sharing Best Practice
A two day course: 30 September - 1 October, 2008
There is a growing interest in finding the best ways of reaching teenage audiences. The purpose of this informal gathering is to enable members to share best practice, experiences and ideas relating to reaching and engaging teenage audiences.
The gathering will also provide an opportunity to further develop relationships with staff within other UK Science & Discovery Centres leading to new and long-lasting partnerships.
The sorts of areas we hope the meeting might address include:
- What exhibitions and/or programmes have people developed to meet teenage audiences’ needs?
- What marketing methods have been used successfully to attract this group?
- How can we best balance the needs of teenage audiences with those of other science centre and museum visitors?
- What is the collective expertise working with non-school youth organisations e.g. youth groups, young offenders, Young People's Parliaments, young mums etc. Who would like to expand their audiences by working with these types of groups?
- What external partners have people been working with? And who should we be developing stronger links with?
Target participants are staff members who have a remit to develop, deliver and/or market activities and programmes aimed at teenagers. Priority will be given in the first instance to The Association for Science and Discovery Centres members, but applications from other organisations are also welcome.
