sciZmic summer

A sciZmic competition, especially for science clubs!
A chance to win some great prizes for your club. All club members have to do is design their very own bacteria. With books, science club kits, computer microscopes and trips to local science centres on offer, this is a competition not to be missed. The deadline for entries is July 12th so get designing! For inspiration visit sciZmic on www.think.com and try out our food poisoning 'Outbreak' activity courtesy of the International Centre for Life.

July 11th - Virtual Space Day
We'd like to invite your school or science club to take part in our Virtual Space Day on July 11th. As well as supplying you with some great space-related activities, we're setting up debates, placing some astronomers in the hotseat and maybe even doing some stargazing. The day will take place on www.think.com. If you're not registered, please register soon. As all the activities will be set up and supplied, you won't need to learn how to set up your own pages (which is very easy to do). All you'll need to do is set up accounts for anyone who wants to take part. Please register your interest by emailing scizmic@the-ba.net.

Aventis books prizes
These will be announced on June 25th, but if you want to get your hands on the books, visit www.amazon.co.uk. The general list has 30% off, and the junior list is reduced too. (Direct link to the shortlists on Amazon).

sciZmic summer
While many science clubs understandably pack up for the summer, sciZmic won't be. Currently 10 science centres are offering sciZmic summer activities. These include @Bristol, The Observatory Science Centre, the Centre for Life, The Lookout and Kelham Island. Keep an eye on www.scizmic.net for details of the sciZmic summer programme or contact your local science centre to find out what they have on offer this summer.
