Kostas Minas
Science Communicator (freelance)
Kostas has joined ASDC as a freelancer in 2023 to work as part of the conference team.
I first contracted the “science bug” when my dad trusted me with a magnifying glass and let me explore our back garden and beyond. Since then, I have trained in Immunology and Biochemistry, as well as completing a Phd in Medicine (Ophthalmology). My passion for science enabled me to work in various fields, from ruminant gut and soil microbiology to novel methods of seawater desalination by using algae as ion exchangers. Next, I had a brief, but formative career as a playworker, where I learned how to best support individuals reach their full potential through play. My passion for science communication saw me working briefly as a science communicator, before I progressed to coordinator, manager and head of education and learning. I am now pursuing new opportunities to engage people with science through play, while having a lot of fun along the way.
