Victoria Denoon
Head of Visitor Experience, W5 Science and Discovery Centre
Science has never been more important than it is today. The global challenges of climate change and the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that we all have a part to play in the future of our planet. ASDC and member Science Centres play a critical role in ensuring that the next generation of scientists are engaged and equipped to address challenges like these.
I joined W5 Science and Discovery Centre in March 2020 and I have responsibility for all aspects of W5’s operations and for ensuring that we deliver a Best Experience Every Time for our visitors. Prior to joining the team at W5, I worked in Higher Education in the United States for 15 years with a particular interest in advancing the careers of women in STEM fields. In addition to my role at W5, I currently serve as the President of the Queen’s University Belfast Graduates’ Association.
What I bring:
- A passion for building science capital
- Experience harnessing collaborations with industry, academia and government
- 15 years’ experience in education and operations management
- A commitment to providing opportunities for life long and life wide learning
Manifesto
Science has never been more important than it is today. The global challenges of climate change and the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that we all have a part to play in the future of our planet. The ASDC and member Science Centres play a critical role in ensuring that the next generation of scientists are engaged and equipped to address challenges like these.
One of the essential roles that Science Centres play is to enhance the informal STEM learning experiences for our visitors, and to assist underrepresented or disadvantaged groups to overcome the real or perceived barriers currently discouraging their engagement with STEM learning.
I am pleased to work with the ASDC, and member organisations, to find new ways to make science accessible, build science capital and to inspire future innovators.
