Discussion Table: Engaging artists to inspire and empower audiences with STEM
What is the role of the arts in science and discovery centres? Is it to provide different ways to engage with science on site at a science centre, to develop connections with new audiences, to reach different audiences through outreach, or all of the above? Do we have the right to "use" art in this way, as a means to an end, rather than an end in itself? Do we class art differently to creative activities? Why do some science centres have active arts programmes and others none (or do they...)? This session, led by Kielder Observatory and The National Space Centre, will explore these questions.
