Workshop: Beyond the one-off: embedding and valuing university and science centre/museums partnerships
Join us for a conversation about three different types of university / science centre relationships. In this session Josh Barker (Uni of Leicester / Leicester Space Centre), Rebecca Hill (Centre of the Cell) and Nathalia Gjersoe (University of Bath) will outline what these relationships look like, the institutional drivers for them, and how the relationships started and are now being sustained. Hosted by Helen Featherstone (University of Bath) we’ll have a lively and honest conversation about the value of science centre / university relationships for regional development, providing content for classroom enrichment, for conducting research in novel spaces and much more! We look forward to hearing your comments and questions throughout the session.
Biography
Josh Barker. University of Leicester & National Space Centre. I have worked as a science communicator for over a decade, developing and delivering educational activities and resources within a science centre environment. I have recently begun a new endeavour in the form of a joint role between the National Space Centre and the University of Leicester to develop Outreach opportunities for the new Space Park Leicester facility. This role will also see me strengthen the relationship between University and Science Centre giving a focus point to a key partnership between these two communities.
