Eden Project Communities has UK wide reach and delivers initiatives that encourage public engagement and participation in positive action and create real social capital on a mass scale. Since it began in 2009, participation in The Big Lunch, the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours, has grown continually with the number of people taking part in 2017 rising to over 9 million. Alongside this we deliver initiatives that encourage connections, engage the public and help people across the UK build the skills and confidence to drive positive social action where it is needed most.
We are looking for an exceptional Research Manager to lead on the evaluation and research of our communities work across a rich palette of initiatives. This work will involve working with external agencies as well as conducting research directly with participants for elements of the programme. Over the next 4 years we are growing participation in the programme to new heights and aiming to increase the social impact that the programme has on communities and neighbourhoods all over the UK.
The right individual will be able to help us by leading the development of a research programme across all elements of delivery to help us evidence required funder outcomes and generate an excellent body of information about the social impact of our initiatives. You will take the lead in developing and implementing a new research strategy across the programme that captures the social impact of what we do, evidences required outcomes and identifies areas of focus for funders and our team. You will be supported by a UK wide team and based in our Eden office working closely with our Programme Director, Delivery Manager and Development Manager.
Our ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar research position, preferably charity based. You’ll have experience in project managing and delivering a busy and varied research programme and the ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets and produce and deliver clear and accurate reports and presentations.
Working for the Eden Project (Charity number 1093070), roles within the programme are funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund. This is a fixed term contract for 4 years subject to funding. The post holder will be based in our Cornwall office, and may be required to travel across the UK and to the Eden Project in Cornwall for key events and meetings.
