Engagement Officer, Jodrell Bank

To support our growing programmes, we are looking for an Engagement Officer to join our lively and dynamic Engagement Team. This role will involve:

• Presenting education sessions to school groups (aged 3 to 18) visiting the Centre and remotely ‘online live’ over Zoom or similar platforms
• Delivery of family shows, talks and activities during school holidays
• Delivery of special events, such as Stargazing evenings, or Girl’s Night Out
• Contributing to the running of the bluedot festival
• Contributing to the delivery of our outreach programme into schools and other communities

The ideal candidate will have:

• A good understanding of physics and/or astronomy at degree level or similar
• Excellent verbal communication skills; being able to communicate complex scientific concepts to school children and members of the general public
• Excellent presentation skills; being able to inspire, educate and entertain audiences of all ages (particularly school aged children) with astronomy, physics, engineering and the heritage of the site
• An understanding of customer service; ensuring that visitors receive an excellent experience
• The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly within the Engagement Team
