Salary: £15,500 - £19,000
This post is suitable for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with a commitment to science learning and a passion for engaging a wide variety of public and community audiences with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
You will play a key role in supporting Dundee Science Centre’s Exhibitions, Festivals and Community Engagement Programmes of workshops, shows and events taking place within the centre and on outreach.
You will develop, coordinate and deliver shows, activities and projects for early years, young adults, adults and family audiences. You will work with the team to build relationships with local groups in order to reduce barriers to engagement and create tailor made programmes to suit the needs of learners to inspire people from a range of backgrounds.
You will coordinate and deliver training for the wider team to deliver science learning experiences for a wide range of audiences with a focus on quality assurance.
You will work closely with the Public Engagement Officer and the Exhibition & Community Engagement Manager in coordinating, developing and delivering both the Fife Science Festival and Dundee Science Festival Programmes. You will contribute to and lead on fundraising processes for the festivals and wider community engagement programme.
You will support the Exhibition & Community Engagement Manager with reviewing and reporting processes of the Exhibition and Community Engagement programme, carrying out audience research and analysis, and contributing to marketing and funding application processes. You will represent Dundee Science Centre in collaborative projects, initiate new partnerships and projects, and liaise with industry and Higher Education to incorporate research and discoveries into learning experiences within the Exhibition and Community Engagement Programme.
Dundee Science Centre is looking for an outstanding individual with: a passion for public engagement and community education; excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the motivation to work in a visitor centre environment.
Qualification or knowledge/experience in a relevant area (public engagement, education orcommunity education) is required. Experience in development, coordination, delivery and training ofSTEM learning experiences and event management is required. You should also be experienced in managing your own time and workload, working towards objectives with little supervision. Experience of providing science communication training is desired, as is experience of liaising with industry and Higher Education to incorporate their research and discoveries into learning experiences for a range of public audiences.
A full, clean UK driving licence is required.
Evening and weekend work will be required, as will travel across Scotland.
