About Us
Who we are and future plans
The Green Britain Centre is an educational visitor centre that gives a glimpse of what a sustainable Britain might look like in the future. It’s designed to be a fun and engaging blueprint for how we can all live a greener lifestyle and achieve our vision of a Green Britain.
We welcome approximately 20,000 visitors a year, offering a unique opportunity for school children and general visitors to learn how to tackle the energy, transport and food they choose and use, while also demonstrating how we can better make space for nature.
The Centre has incredible potential for growth. It’s home to the only full-scale windmill in Europe that visitors can climb, with a 360-degree viewing platform – designed by Sir Normal Foster. It also offers lots of learning opportunities through its large indoor exhibition space, 200-seater cinema and wild outdoor spaces, and is also home to a vegan café and organic garden.
The Centre offers a range of space for hire, and we donate the income to our charity, the Green Britain Foundation.
Our next phase of development is about introducing more inspiring experiences for all ages to learn how they can adopt a greener lifestyle and become ambassadors for change. We also plan to increase our visitor numbers so that we can achieve a bigger impact nationwide – taking our vision of a Green Britain to even more people across Britain.
Our Vision
For the Centre to be a thriving destination for visitors to learn about our Green Britain vision and how to live a greener lifestyle – whilst being financially sustainable.
