The International Centre for Life is a thriving science hub in the heart of Newcastle. Its purpose is to inspire everyone to explore and enjoy science and to provide a world class science hub where life enhancing engagement, research and clinical treatment can thrive.
Life is home to NHS clinics as well as scientists and researchers from Newcastle University. Life Science Centre is at the heart of this ‘circle of science’ and aspires to be most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK. It has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.
Our schools and communities programme is at the heart of the Life mission. We are looking to recruit an innovative and versatile leader experienced in working with schools and community groups. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering a unique, high quality programme in an informal learning environment.
You will head a team that inspires young people and communities to develop their attitudes, skills, and aspirations through STEM engagement, with a focus on reaching those facing challenges that make it particularly difficult for them to access science. You will be an outward looking leader who works collaboratively and has the drive to make our programme an exceptional one. You will relish challenges and be proactive in your approach to developing relationships with stakeholders and networks to help build on our reputation as a place for innovative science engagement and reducing barriers to education.
