This year ASDC was thrilled to travel to the beautiful, sunny city of Ljublijana for Ecsite 2024, where our project manager and Chief Executive soaked up the connections, positivity, inspiration and perspectives.
Although Shaaron has had the fortune of being involved in Ecsite and the community of equity, diversity and inclusion advocates (diversci.eu) since 2016, it was Cait’s first trip to Ecsite, and she spent part of it bringing our space and physics programming and events to the space exploration and communication preconference.
Between us we were able to delve into sessions covering topics such as research and evaluation, inclusive design, equity and inclusion, AI, families as learning communities, queering science engagement practices, podcasting, informal learning spaces, fundraising, sustainable exhibitions, art & science, travelling exhibitions, gaining EU funding, and so much more!
Beyond participation in the ever-valuable preconferences – a great place to start the conference and have time to get to know like-minded colleagues - ASDC co-led three other sessions during the main programme:
- Converging on shared social impacts of science engagement in and through youth work settings
- Inclusion tools speed dating
- From numbers to insights: how can data collected by networks inform your work
It was a privilege to hear about the amazing work of colleagues from across the European field, and we returned inspired and re-connected, looking forward to finding new and exciting ways to continue to collaborate across European and international networks.
