23rd - 28th of July 2016, Manchester
The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) is a biennial, pan-European, general science conference dedicated to scientific research and innovation. It brings together over 4,500 leading thinkers, innovators, policy makers, journalists and educators from more than 90 countries, to discuss current and future breakthroughs in contemporary science.
The UK was very privileged to host this year's ESOF in Manchester, a city so full of unique scientific heritage and contribution to scientific discovery, innovation and industry that it was named the European City of Science in 2016. By welcoming delegates from across the European Union, we hope to confirm the UK's continuing desire to collaborate across Europe, dispite the EU Referendum result in June 2016.
ASDC were delighted to take an exhibition stand to ESOF, to engage attendees with the aims and current results of CIMULACT and to collect their thoughts about citizen consultation. We asked: "What can we gain from asking citizens where research funding should be allocated?". This generated a lot of valuable discussion, and we asked visitors to the stand to write their answers on the wall.
