Friday 7th October 2016, Gordano School Bristol
The second phase of CIMULACT consultations happened in October 2016, and ASDC was delighted to be the only partner engaging school children as part of this process. 53 sixth form students took part in a one-day workshop to develop research scenarios based on themes from the National Citizen Visioning Workshop earlier in the year. Each group of students developed detailed research scenarios based around future technologies and societal changes, including ideas of how the research should be carried out and what stakeholders should be involved. The day ended with a presentation from each group, and the chance for everyone to vote for their favourite ideas. The research scenarios generated by the students have been sent to the European Commission and will be used to create research topics for future funding bids.
The students were really engaged throughout the day, and were very pleased to be involved in the project and to have their voices heard.
Comments from the students:
"I liked learning about the different research projects that aimed to improve society, they were very interesting."
"I enjoyed being able to put my opinions forward and to be able to have a say"
