Dialogue academy was a collaborative project between ASDC and five Science and Discovery Centres:
- At-Bristol (the project leaders)
- Centre for Life, Newcastle
- Glasgow Science Centre
- The Living Rainforest
- Thinktank, Birmingham's Science Museum
The whole project was supported by The Wellcome Trust.
We were also grateful to receive help and advice from Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI)
The aim of dialogue academy was to train staff at science and discovery centres across the UK, as well as individuals from other public engagement organisations (such as University public engagement deparments, and independent companies), in how to engage with visitors using ’dialogue‘. Very broadly, in this context when we talk about dialogue we mean:
A conversation between two parties where both parties are listening to, and learning from, one another
Four dialogue academies took place across the country in Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle.
More information about ‘dialogue academy’ is available on its website.
