The ASDC Decarbonisation Group is a key initiative to bring together a sustainability representative from each of the ASDC member organisations to support with the following three goals:
- Measuring their carbon emissions
- Setting a carbon reduction target
- Hitting their carbon reduction target
Run by the ASDC team, ASDC's Sustainability Chair Chris Dunford, Head of Sustainable Futures at We The Curious and Roddy Skinner, Sustainability Analyst at We The Curious, the group has been set up to support your journey towards carbon net zero. We understand every science centre and museum is different, and every organisation will have their own challenges.
“Climate change is a serious threat to our society and so we need to take positive action now. As an educational charity, we recognise that we have a responsibility to operate as sustainably as we can, and we have an important role in empowering and supporting our visitors to explore how they can make a difference themselves – providing a bridge between the science and the public. Working in collaboration with other organisations through the Bristol Green Capital Partnership we can hopefully engage and inspire people to take action and make a difference.” Donna Speed, CEO, We the Curious
Everyone is invited to contribute, share knowledge and resources using the ASDC Decarbonisation Group Teams channel set up for this group.
There will be quarterly online sessions run by the team, please check Teams for more information on upcoming sessions.
If your organisation is an ASDC member and would like to join, please sign up here.
Chris Dunford and Roddy Skinner ran an excellent workshop at the ASDC Conference 2022 in Glasgow with guest speakers: How to Decarbonise your Science Centre.
